It has been an awesome journey thus far.  I started on episode 1 and I am just now finishing up episode 15.

It’s a 28:30 long weekly show and we’ll be cranking out 52 episodes a year.

Not only have we been able to broadcast some great teaching but we’ve also been able to create a lot of original content such as the video embed here.

The showing was Saturday April 14th at Sunergos Coffee and was followed by a Latte Art Competition.

It was great to finally see it all come together and it was an honor to have approximately 225+ people view the film.

Now it is on to film fests and more screenings as we amp up for our next production.  Thank you all for your support.

Word from the Wallaces

• In other news I am excited to have started in my new role as Senior Video Editor for Southeast Christian Church here in Louisville, KY.

• I will be editing a brand new weekly television show called Southeast TV.  It will air on WAVE 3 at 10:00 AM EST starting 02/12/2012.

I am grateful for God’s provision in my life and for the opportunity to have served at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary for the past 2.5 years but I am extremely excited about what God will do with this new TV ministry.

It has truly been a while since I have done an episode.

I have had good intentions but there have been a lot of obstacles in the way.

First off, I discovered malware on my site and that took a while to clear up.

I was afraid that either my episode would be a waste of time and no one would be able to see it or that no one would visit my site due to malware warnings.

Anyways that fear is gone now.  Thanks for coming back.

Secondly, I have been swamped with freelance & personal projects.

Thirdly, life in general has been pretty wild.  We’re neck deep in our adoption process & I am in the midst of transitioning from the Director of Video Productions at The Southern Theological Seminary to my new role as Senior Editor on a new television program at Southeast Christian Church.

Hopefully we’ll have more new episodes soon (This one was thrown together pretty quick).

After posting a few lighting videos I received several requests for more videos lighting and correct exposure.
If there are any specifics about video production that you would like to see covered please feel free to contact me with your ideas for future episodes.

In future episodes I hope to explore the creative process of filmmaking and not just the technical side, so please send me your ideas and feedback.

In other news: Bryan Todd completed the poster (also above) for my short film Monkey Mocha Fantastique.  I am very pleased with the design he did and it is serving as a source of inspiration for me as I am digging back into the edit of MMF on the heals of the Sudan project being wrapped.

Speaking of the Sudan project, Grace Surpasses premiered last Friday with much success.  There were a total of ‎463 people in attendance.  It was quite the experience.  Interstates did an amazing job of creating an all out acoustic landscape by performing the score that David LaChance composed LIVE!!!  It was unlike anything I have ever experienced.

On November 3rd camera geeks like myself around the world will be looking for the big announcements from Canon, RED, Sony and Nikon.  I am personally excited to see what Canon is announcing.  Will it be a 5D MarkIII or a Super 35 video camera?  We can only hope.

I was introduced to a new service this week that is geared towards independent filmakers who work on a shoestring budget.  I currently color grade most of my own stuff w/ Apple’s Color and Red Giant’s Magic Bullet Looks.  However, if the project is large enough and I really need it done well, it is time to call a colorist.  Color Grading is extremely pricey though and you could easily blow through your budget.  This is where ColorCorrection.com comes in handy.  You can now have a color grading done on a proper color grading machine by a colorist without having to pay inflated prices for luxurious editing suites…  It excites me.  I found this article by Studio Daily very informative.

Will FCPX finally get some love from the professionals or will this newest upgrade only attempt help a failing product.  Time will tell.

I am knee deep in the edit of Monkey Mocha Fantastique and have been finishing up the final post production details of Grace Surpasses.

Grace Surpasses is the most recent film I did the cinematography on in Southern Sudan.  We shot it back in November of 2010 and it premieres this Friday, Sept. 16th at the KY Center for the Arts.

The combination of the film premiere alongside with the score being performed live will be an experience you will not want to miss.
